‘We are apt to say, “It is not at all likely that
having been through the greatest crisis of my life I would now turn back to the
things of the world.” Do not try to predict where the temptation will come; it
is the least likely thing that is the real danger. It is in the aftermath of a
great spiritual event that the least likely things begin to have an effect.
They may not be forceful and dominant, but they are there. And if you are not
careful to be forewarned, they will trip you.’ CHAMBERS
As Christians we want to walk in obedience to the
Word of God. It is our intent from the
beginning. But the truth is that we are
faced with opportunities, every day, to do just the opposite .. to walk in
disobedience. 1
Corinthians 10:13 says that every temptation that we face is common to
people all over the world. James 1:13-15 “When tempted, no one should
say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt
anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own
evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth
to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
We must always be on our guard against temptation and
our “natural” tendency to yield to it. God
has provided a way to escape. The Word
of God. Psalm 119:11 “Your Word have I hid in my heart that I might not son
against You” You must strengthen your
spiritual nature through a steady diet of the Word. You are what you eat! Have you had your meal for today?
