‘The heart of salvation is the Cross of Christ. The reason salvation is so easy to obtain
is that it cost God so much. The Cross was the place where God and sinful
man merged with a tremendous collision and where the way to life was opened.
But all the cost and pain of the collision was absorbed by the heart of God.’
CHAMBERS
In the Experiencing God bible study, that we are
leading for some English-speaking Haitian men and women, Dr. Blackaby talks
about 7 realities or truths or principles about God that we should understand
as Christians. The second reality is that “God pursues a continuing love
relationship with you that is real and personal.” He did that through the cross. Most Christians can rattle John 3:16 off, no
problem. But many of those same
Christians do not treasure the truth in that verse. God chose to seek us out because He loves
us. He sent His Son to suffer for us ..
to experience death .. to overcome death and sin … for us … so we would be
reconciled to Him …
Now if you were to ask most Christians, “Do you believe
that?” they would say “yes, of course”, then the next question would be “Why
don’t you live it?” Easter is just
around the corner … It is a time for us to acknowledge the crucifixion and the resurrection.
Let that sink in. Easter Sunday is not
merely a special Sunday where we can host more lost people to hear about Jesus.
Certainly it is a wonderful evangelistic
opportunity. But it should also a time of reflection for us to remember the
great love God has for us … the relationship He wants to have with us .. and the
new life we have been called to.
1 John 3:1-3 (The Message) "1 What marvelous love the Father has extended
to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are.
But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously,
because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to. 2-3 But friends, that’s
exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows
how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll
see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his
Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our
own."
