"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:1-2
In the Experiencing God study, Dr Blackaby said "If you have trouble with obeying God, then what you have is trouble loving God." Obedience is the result of love or devotion. Obedience is in its simplest form submission. Paul says that we should offer ourselves as living sacrifices. That means our hearts are fully devoted to God and His will. Jesus expressed that when He prayed in the Garden.
"Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” - Matthew 26:39
It is a test of devotion when you obey the Father and it is not the way you would choose if given the option. It requires faith and love.
"Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." - Matthew 22:37
There is no room left. And out of that devotion will spring a desire to obey. Fortunately God has provided us with the Spirit, the Word and other Christians to help us along the way.
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
