“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him,
and He shall bring it to pass” —Psalm 37:5
‘In spiritual issues it is customary for us to put
God first, but we tend to think that it is inappropriate and unnecessary to put
Him first in the practical, everyday issues of our lives. […] Don’t plan
without God. […] We get ourselves into circumstances that were not chosen by
God, and suddenly we realize that we have been making our plans without Him—
that we have not even considered Him to be a vital, living factor in the
planning of our lives. And yet the only thing that will keep us from even the
possibility of worrying is to bring God in as the greatest factor in all of our
planning.’ CHAMBERS
Proverbs
16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord
directs his steps” God is sovereign over
everything … and how much is everything? So often we live our lives as if we
were independent of God … choosing what is right as if it a menu … on the left
side you have the culture and the old nature.
On the right side, you have the Word of God. “Now let me see, I’ll have one lust of the
flesh, pride of life , hold the guilt,
and as a side .. the love of money sounds good … and for desert … hmmmmm …. How
about a large serving of peace that passes all understanding with a scoop of
patience. Oh and sweet tea.”
It is so easy to live our lives this way. And when things go wrong .. we just try
harder. But that is like being in
quicksand. The harder you struggle the
deeper you sink. Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not
fulfill the lust of the flesh.” The problem you face with the problems you face
is that you are trying to live your life with God in the stands as a spectator
when He is, in fact, the Head Coach.
Do you want to be like Jesus? John 5:30 “By myself I can do nothing; […]
I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.”
