‘There can be no real disobedience, nor any moral
virtue in obedience, unless a person recognizes the higher authority of the one
giving the orders. If this recognition does not exist, even the one giving the
orders may view the other person’s disobedience as freedom.’ CHAMBERS
I don’t know if you have ever heard the child’s story
about the emperor’s new clothes. A man made imaginary clothes and convinced the
emperor they existed .. The emperor believed him and no one in his court would
dare say they did not see clothes. It
took a child to reveal the truth and make the way for everyone to agree that
the emperor had no clothes on.
We can believe that the way we live and what we do
is OK. That we can define what is right
and what is wrong … what is and what isn’t … if we have clothes on or if we don’t. But the truth is that there is a greater
truth than the one we conjure in our minds. Jesus is the Truth. He is the higher authority. We can choose to
ignore Him and truth … but that does not mean that we have clothes on … that
does not mean there is not a consequence.
… 1 John 5:11-12 “And this is the testimony [truth]: God has given us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life;
whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” People can deny Jesus but it doesn’t change
things … you can live with sin and say it’s OK, people can pretend along with
you, but that does not make it so.
