‘If you ask for things
from life instead of from God, “you ask amiss”; that is, you ask out of
your desire for self-fulfillment. The more you fulfill yourself the less you
will seek God. “. . . seek, and you will find . . . .” Get to work— narrow your
focus and interests to this one thing. Have you ever sought God with your whole
heart, or have you simply given Him a feeble cry after some emotionally painful
experience? “ CHAMBERS
Do you understand the difference? Between asking from life or asking from
God. The point has to do with focus the
source of satisfaction. What is it that
makes you feel safe, secure, satisfied. Is it when your stomach is full, you bank
account has a positive balance, everyone in your family is getting along,
people are treating you well, or you don’t have any physical problems. Or is it
when you are suddenly aware that you are eternally in the arms of the Creator
God of the universe. That He knows your
name, He knows your every thought, He sees each tear that falls and hears you
when you call. That He is the God of all comfort, who comforts you in your
affliction (2
Corinthians 1:3-4)… because you will certainly have afflictions (John 16:33) .. it’s not if, it’s when …. things will not always go your way … and
today …. right now, you may feel like they
never do …
We should not turn to life …. The world … to give
us peace in our hearts, minds and souls … we can find that kind of peace only
in God through Christ … (Philippians
4:6-7) Nothing the world has to offer lasts .. the pleasure and
satisfaction we get from whatever it is, quickly fades … but what God gives
never rusts or fades …
Take some time today to talk with the Father … He
is the God of much more … (Matthew
6:30) to His praise and glory.
