‘The total being of our life inside and out is to be absolutely obsessed by the presence of God.
A child’s awareness is so absorbed in his mother that although he is not
consciously thinking of her, when a problem arises, the abiding relationship is
that with the mother. In that same way, we are to “live and move and have our
being” in God (Acts
17:28), looking at everything in
relation to Him, because our abiding awareness of Him continually pushes
itself to the forefront of our lives.’ CHAMBERS
Do you ever draw a
line on how ‘religious’ you are going to be?
Do you have categories of Christians in your mind. Those who don’t live the way or do the things
they are supposed to do. Those who have found a good balance in their lives
between living in the world and living for Jesus. And then there are those who are ‘super spiritual’. If they are not in full time ministry, then
they should be.
In Matthew 22:37,
Jesus said … Love God with all your heart .. all your soul .. all your mind … ‘all’
pretty much means ‘all’. ‘All’ doesn’t
leave room for much else. It means that there
is no room for harboring the traditions of men … of taking preference to what
your family or your race might show preference or disdain towards. It means that God’s Word is the lense you
look at life through. Everything is seen
in the context of God’s revelation to man.
That we are ‘obsessed’ by the presence of God because His Spirit is
strong in us … we are submitted to His leading …
‘For those who live according to the
flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according
to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death,
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.’ (Romans 8:5-8)
‘And when the servant of the man of God arose
early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and
chariots. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we
do?" So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who are with us are more
than those who are with them." And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I
pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the
young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots
of fire all around Elisha.’ (2 Kings 6:15-17)
Do you see we really
don’t have a choice but to be sold out to Jesus? That this life we live is not to be one of
compromise but complete dedication … Everything has a Spiritual context …. That
we are all in full time ministry … Just so happens that most of us are bi-vocational.
