Walking by the Light

My Utmost For His Highest

Jesus said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Once, the Bible was just so many words to us — “clouds and darkness”— then, suddenly, the words become spirit and life because Jesus re-speaks them to us when our circumstances make the words new. That is the way God speaks to us; not by visions and dreams, but by words. When a man gets to God, it is by the most simple way— words.’  CHAMBERS

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Lord speaks to us through the Word.  Reading the Word is critical to our spiritual health and connection. We are traveling back and forth from Haiti. It’s been a year and a half and we have not made much progress in learning the Creole language.  What we have learned fades quickly when we return to the U.S. And when we return to Haiti, it takes some effort to draw the language back up into our speech.

That is the way it is with the Word of God.  If I don’t stay immersed in it .. every day … it fades in my mind … Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”  When I am not reading the Word, the light dims.  Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Read the Word, listen for the Lord and do what He says.
