Are You Living a New Life?

My Utmost For His Highest

We were buried with Him . . . that just as Christ was raised from the dead . . . even so we also should walk in newness of life —Romans 6:4

‘[…] If there has never been this crucial moment of change through death, sanctification will never be more than an elusive dream. […] It has oneness with God for only one purpose— to be a witness for Him.  Have you really come to your last days? You have often come to them in your mind, but have you really experienced them? You cannot die or go to your funeral in a mood of excitement. Death means you stop being. […] We […] continually refuse our own death. It will not happen by striving, but by yielding to death. It is dying— being “baptized into His death” (Romans 6:3). […]  Has there been a point in your life which you now mark as your last day? Is there a place in your life to which you go back in memory with humility and overwhelming gratitude […] “This is the will of God, your sanctification . . .” (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Once you truly realize this is God’s will, you will enter into the process of sanctification as a natural response. […] Will you agree with Him that this is your last day on earth? The moment of agreement depends on you.’ CHAMBERS

Galatians 2:20 ‘I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’

So we call ourselves Christians.  Do we fully understand what that means in terms of how we act, how we speak, how we relate, how we… well how we do anything?  Being a Christian is more than winning a ticket to heaven.  Yet so very often we treat our salvation that way.  We make excuses for the way we live our lives and treat others.  But God has intended so much more for us as we live out our days on terra firma.

Matthew 5:13-16You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

How is that going for ya?  It causes me to stop and think and pray and seek God – His strength – His Spirit – His Truth – His Forgiveness.  We can only live our new life if we stay connected to the Vine. John 15:5-8
