Frog In The Pot

The man who has been dulled by sin will say that he is not even conscious of it. But the cleansing from sin we experience will reach to the heights and depths of our spirit if we will “walk in the light as He is in the light” (1 John 1:7). The same Spirit that fed the life of Jesus Christ will feed the life of our spirit. It is only when we are protected by God with the miraculous sacredness of the Holy Spirit that our spirit, soul, and body can be preserved in pure uprightness until the coming of Jesus-no longer condemned in God’s sight.’ CHAMBERS
 
When my children were small, one of our girls had a friend come to the house to play.  They wanted to watch a movie so I put a video on for them to watch.  As they watch the movie a word was said in the movie that made the little girl gasp as if she was startled.  I didn’t hear the word but did see her reaction.  When I played the video back, I realized that the actor had used the Lord’s name in vain.  I apologized to the girl and turned the video off.  Why hadn’t I heard that?  I was in the military and heard that language every day. Because my mind had been dulled to such words to the point that I didn’t ‘hear’ them anymore.  As I type this, I wonder about what other things my mind has become dulled to.  Being in the culture that we live in, is like the story about the frog in the pot …. We have been sitting in the warm water .. content .. assured that we are not being affected by the culture .. but the temperature of the water has been steadily increasing.  We are accommodating to things that the Word says are sin.
 
Guard your heart and mind Christian.  Philippians 4:6-9Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
