"The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed." - Deuteronomy 31:8
"Do you not remember how, when His children had to go and destroy the Canaanites, the Lord sent the hornets before them? I sent hornets before you, which drove them out from before you (Joshua 24:12). Now, when you have to go and preach to sinners, God sends some preparatory work before you; He is sure to do so." Charles Spurgeon, Following Christ
To follow Jesus means that He is ahead of you. Following is not merely doing what He does - but being in His presence - because of His sacrifice we have access to the Father. He is our advocate before the Father. The eternal intercessor, pouring out His shed blood on the Mercy Seat, 24x7x365xEternity.
"God will make a way Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me
He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side with love and strength for each new day He will make a way, He will make a way" - Don Moen, Integrity's Hosanna! Music
"For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father." - Ephesians 2:18
"For it is witnessed of him, “You [Jesus] are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” ... This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever." - Hebrews 7:17,22-28
That is the Jesus that we follow! Make this your commitment!
Where HE leads me, I will follow
Where He leads ME, I will follow
Where He leads me, I WILL follow
I'll go with Him, with Him, ALL THE WAY - E. W. Blandly (my emphasis)
"He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So, we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?" - Hebrews 13:5-6
