You Of Little Faith, Why Did You Doubt?

My Utmost For His Highest

‘Never allow anything that divides or destroys the oneness of your life with Christ to remain in your life without facing it. Beware of allowing the influence of your friends or your circumstances to divide your life. This only serves to sap your strength and slow your spiritual growth. Beware of anything that can split your oneness with Him, causing you to see yourself as separate from Him. Nothing is as important as staying right spiritually. And the only solution is a very simple one— “Come to Me . . . .” The intellectual, moral, and spiritual depth of our reality as a person is tested and measured by these words. Yet in every detail of our lives where we are found not to be real, we would rather dispute the findings than come to Jesus.’ CHAMBERS

Matthew 14:25-33 “Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them (the disciples) , walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Our faith is easy when it is not being tested.  Hebrews 11:1 says faith is trusting in what we don’t see and what we hope for.  So Peter started out by trusting, responding to the word of Jesus.  But then he felt the salt water splashing his face.  He saw the wave rolling around him.  He realized that what he was doing was impossible … but there he was.  The moment he stopped trusting .. he started sinking.

That is the same way it is for us.  There are situations in our lives that tell us that what we are doing or trusting will happen is impossible.  That you cannot do this .. you cannot survive this .. you cannot bear this another minute … look to Jesus …

He Will Come And Save You

Say to those who are fearful hearted,  Do not be afraid  The Lord your God will come  And with His mighty arm  When you call on His Name  He will come and save you

Say those who are broken hearted  Do not lose your faith  The Lord your God will come  And with His loving hand  When you call on His Name  He will come and save you

Chorus:

He will come and save you Say to the weary one  Your God will surely come  He will come and save you
He will come and save you  Lift up your eyes to Him  You will arise again  He will come and save you”

You of little faith, why did you doubt?
