‘The river of the Spirit of God overcomes all obstacles. Never focus your eyes on the obstacle or
the difficulty. The obstacle will be a matter of total indifference to the
river that will flow steadily through you if you will simply remember to stay
focused on the Source. Never allow anything to come between you and Jesus
Christ— not emotion nor experience— nothing must keep you from the one great
sovereign Source.’ CHAMBERS
Do you face challenges in your life? I think I can
hear to ‘DUH!’ echoing across cyberspace.
We all do. So the question is not whether you will encounter problems,
but how you will respond when you do. Americans
are so achievement oriented. Not to say
that is bad, but the danger is that we may choose to not wait on God but to do
something on our own .. to make it happen.
I call it the sin of King Saul.
Do you remember when he was supposed to destroy everything but decided
that he should save some (1
Samuel 15) … that he decided to not wait on Samuel, but to offer a
sacrifice himself? He faced obstacles
and decided to do it his way and not wait on God. (1
Samuel 13)
That is what happens when we lose sight of God and
face our obstacles on our own. When we
trust ourselves and not God. We may say
we are acting in the name of the Lord, but really we are operating in our own
power. We cannot do something God has
called us to do using our own wisdom and expect the outcome to be pleasing to
God. That is why we have to keep our
eyes fixed on God and not the problem.
There is nothing too hard for God … but there is a quite a long list of
things that are too hard for me (Jeremiah
32:17).
What obstacle are you facing today? Look to God.
‘Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in
the name of the Lord our God.’ (Psalm 20:7)
