When a Stranger Calls

My Utmost For His Highest

Ministering in everyday opportunities that surround us does not mean that we select our own surroundings— it means being God’s very special choice to be available for use in any of the seemingly random surroundings which He has engineered for us. The very character we exhibit in our present surroundings is an indication of what we will be like in other surroundings. The things Jesus did were the most menial of everyday tasks, and this is an indication that it takes all of God’s power in me to accomplish even the most common tasks in His way. Can I use a towel as He did? Towels, dishes, sandals, and all the other ordinary things in our lives reveal what we are made of more quickly than anything else. It takes God Almighty Incarnate in us to do the most menial duty as it ought to be done.’ CHAMBERS

Are you available to God for ministry?  I don’t mean, are you ready to go to Africa.  I mean, are you ready to ministry to the person and in the circumstance that God presents to you today?  Our tendency to is define our ministry space.  In other words .. we say, this is the ministry I do … this is when I do it, where I do it, and who I do it to.    You see, the problem with that line of thinking is that we have pushed God aside, disregarded His Spirit, and are making our own opportunities. In Matthew 25, the question asked by the sheep and goats was “Lord when did we see you?”

Today is a great example.  This morning, Martie got a phone call from a woman in Waveland, MS asking about Celebrate Recovery in Waveland.  We have not been ministering in Waveland for 2 years.  When asked how she got Martie’s number, the woman answered “From your web site”.  That page has not been active for two years.  Martie explained the ministry, how to contact Pastor Ben, and sent an email to Ben with the woman’s contact information.  Then she prayed with the woman.  Where did that come from?  That was a God orchestrated moment.  Martie could have said call this number and then hung up, but instead she took time to hear the woman’s story and to pray with her.

Be on the lookout for Divine encounters.  People sent your way because God intends for you to speak His life into their’s.  Just one more way to let your light shine.
