Trust and Obey For There is No Other Way

My Utmost For His Highest

“ If the Spirit of God detects anything in you that is wrong, He doesn’t ask you to make it right; He only asks you to accept the light of truth, and then He will make it right. A child of the light will confess sin instantly and stand completely open before God. But a child of the darkness will say, “Oh, I can explain that.” When the light shines and the Spirit brings conviction of sin, be a child of the light. Confess your wrongdoing, and God will deal with it. If, however, you try to vindicate yourself, you prove yourself to be a child of the darkness.  What is the proof that carnality has gone? Never deceive yourself; when carnality is gone you will know it-it is the most real thing you can imagine. And God will see to it that you have a number of opportunities to prove to yourself the miracle of His grace. The proof is in a very practical test. You will find yourself saying, “If this had happened before, I would have had the spirit of resentment!” And you will never cease to be the most amazed person on earth at what God has done for you on the inside.”  CHAMBERS

You may have seen the bumper sticker “I’m not perfect only forgiven”.  Do you live your life afraid that someone will find out you aren’t perfect?  HELLLOOO!  We know that we couldn’t be good enough to get to heaven … “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Yet we find ourselves trying not to sin … trying to be good.  Don’t misunderstand me, I am not saying this is something that only you deal with it.  I believe we all face this struggle.  But if we understand that we have to stop trying to do in our own strength what can only be done in the Spirit .. we will see the evidence of the power of the Spirit in our lives.  And we will find ourselves saying … “If this had happened before, I would have ……. “ You can fill in the rest.

“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).  Does that sound like another one of those Biblical exhortations that is just out of reach.  I mean, the Bible tells us what to do, but seems to stop short of telling us how to do it. Well actually it does .. and ‘yes’ we are back to the same place I have been taking you to the last several days.  It begins with trust .. and ends with action.  Trusting God and the truth of His Word and then walking by faith in obedience to what it says.  (Did you catch the ‘by faith’ part?) The more we pursue God the closer and more real God will become.  Our lives will be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  (Romans 12;2)  “Don’t be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, to prove that which is the good and perfect will of God.”  Whatcha wait'n for?
