“We presume that we would be ready for battle if confronted
with a great crisis, but it is not the crisis that builds something within us—
it simply reveals what we are made of already. […] A private relationship of
worshiping God is the greatest essential element of spiritual fitness. […] If
your worship is right in your private relationship with God, then when He sets
you free, you will be ready. It is in the unseen life, which only God saw, that
you have become perfectly fit. And when the strain of the crisis comes, you can
be relied upon by God. Are you saying, “[…] I have no time for prayer or Bible
study right now; […] If you have not been worshiping in everyday occasions,
when you get involved in God’s work, you will not only be useless yourself but
also a hindrance to those around you.” CHAMBERS
There is a saying in the Army, or at least was when I was in
the Army, “You fight the way you train.”
In other words, if you have not preparing yourself for battle, then when
the battle is upon you, there won’t be time to get ready. In Ephesians
6:10-18, Paul describes the full armor of God. It is what every Christian should do, every
day to be ready for the battle that is coming.
Truth, righteousness, readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, faith,
salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. This is spiritual equipment that will
help you fight and overcome. On the
other hand, you “will” fight the way you train.
If you choose to ignore this admonition and go it alone, unprotected and
unarmed, you will suffer the consequences.
Perhaps you already are. God’s
spiritual provision is not just for the bye and bye, but for the here and now. So suit up .. and lean forward in the foxhole
… be ready for the battle this day will bring.
In Jesus name! ELGIN
