How To Live In A New Reality With Your Feet Planted In The Old One

“We wear His name, but are we going on with Him? “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more” (John 6:66). We have the idea that we ought to shield ourselves from some of the things God brings around us. May it never be! It is God who engineers our circumstances, and whatever they may be we must see that we face them while continually abiding with Him[…]. They are [...] to the life of the Son of God in us. […]  Are we remaining faithful to the Son of God in everything that attacks His life in us? Are you going on with Jesus? The way goes through Gethsemane, through the city gate, and on “outside the camp” (Hebrews 13:13). The way is lonely and goes on until there is no longer even a trace of a footprint to follow— but only the voice saying, “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19).” CHAMBERS

(Galatians 2:20) “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, but the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”  If you are born again, you live in a new reality even though your feet are planted in the old one.  (2 Corinthians 5:17) “If anyone is in Christ [born again] he is a new creation.  Old things are passed away, all things have become new”  If you are born again, you live in a new reality even though your feet are planted in the old one. (Yes I intentionally repeated that phrase!) When temptations come your way, there is a battle that ensues and it is a spiritual one.  (Ephesians 6:12-13) “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.”  Temptations will come your way … you must be spiritually ready through disciplined training and preparation to defend yourself and defeat the enemy.  What does a defeated Christian look like?  They look just like the unsaved people around them.  They have surrendered to the enemy .. given up the fight.  Laid down their arms and armor. They may still speak about Jesus, but their hearts are no longer devoted to Him.  But they can be restored.  That is called repentance.  Repentance means that someone does an about face, a 180 degree turn and goes the other way.  It does not mean that they regret what they have done or not done and then continue down the same path.  Maybe you know someone who need to be encouraged .. maybe you are that someone.  Whatever the case .. God is waiting for the repentant prodigal with open arms … Think about it.  ELGIN
