Take It To The Lord In Prayer

“When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place…” —Matthew 6:6

“The primary thought in the area of religion is— keep your eyes on God, not on people. Your motivation should not be the desire to be known as a praying person. Find an inner room in which to pray where no one even knows you are praying, shut the door, and talk to God in secret. Have no motivation other than to know your Father in heaven. It is impossible to carry on your life as a disciple without definite times of secret prayer.

“When you pray, do not use vain repetitions…” (Matthew 6:7). God does not hear us because we pray earnestly— He hears us solely on the basis of redemption. God is never impressed by our earnestness. Prayer is not simply getting things from God— that is only the most elementary kind of prayer. Prayer is coming into perfect fellowship and oneness with God. If the Son of God has been formed in us through regeneration (see Galatians 4:19), then He will continue to press on beyond our common sense and will change our attitude about the things for which we pray.” CHAMBERS

Martie and I just saw a movie called “War Room”.  It had to do with this very subject.  Keeping our eyes on God. Setting time aside to focus on Him.  Trusting Him with everything in our lives.  In a study called the Truth Project, by Focus on the Family, the question is asked “Do you believe that what you believe is really real?” Simple question, but its implications run very deep.  If you believe that God is sovereign over everything.  If you believe that He will cause all things to work together for good.  If you believe that He has plans for you to prosper (don’t think money here). If you really believe in your innermost being … then you will act on that belief.  Someone once said that you only believe the part of the Bible that you obey.  So … how are you doing with that? Be encouraged Saint.  (Isaiah 35:3-4) “Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will (surely) come, …. he will come to save you.”” Do you believe it?  So what are you going to do about it?  ELGIN

“What A Friend We Have In Jesus” (abridged)

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged;
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.
In his arms he'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.”
