“Jesus’ parable of the talents recorded in Matthew
25:14-30 was a warning that it is
possible for us to misjudge our capacities. This parable has nothing to do with
natural gifts and abilities, but relates to the gift of the Holy Spirit as He
was first given at Pentecost. We must never measure our spiritual capacity on
the basis of our education or our intellect; our capacity in spiritual things
is measured on the basis of the promises of God. If we get less than God wants
us to have, we will falsely accuse Him as the servant falsely accused his
master when he said, “You expect more of me than you gave me the power to do.
You demand too much of me, and I cannot stand true to you here where you have
placed me.” When it is a question of God’s Almighty Spirit, never say, “I
can’t.” Never allow the limitation of your own natural ability to enter into
the matter. If we have received the Holy Spirit, God expects the work of the
Holy Spirit to be exhibited in us.” CHAMBERS
I think that the term “personal relationship with Jesus” is
very often misapplied by Christians. It can give me the idea that what I have
been given is for me. And, likewise,
what other people receive is for them. The
truth of the matter is that what I have been given is for God and others, not
just for me. (1 Corinthians 12: 7,11-14,27) “Now to each one the manifestation [spiritual gifts]of
the Spirit is given for the common good. […] All these [gifts] are the work of
one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he
determines. Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts
form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so
as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all
given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but
of many. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
Each Christian has a place in the body of Christ. Each of us has been “gifted” for the purpose
of being a light to the world … just like Jesus, we are to testify to the
truth. (John 18:37) “Jesus answered, “… the reason I (Jesus) was born and
came into the world is to testify to the truth.” So as Pilate asked “What is
truth?” There is a Creator God. He loves
His creation – Man. Man has sinned and must be restored. God sent His Son to be
that means of restoration. Man must accept what the Son has done and choose to
serve God and not himself.
(Romans 10:9-13) “If you
declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your
faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never
be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same
Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved.”
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. Hide it under a bushel? No! I’m gonna let it
shine. How about you? Let the people come to know the Truth by the
way you live and the way you love others. ELGIN
(John 13:35) “By
this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
