‘Our sins are removed because of the death of
Jesus, and the only explanation for His death is His obedience to His Father,
not His sympathy for us. We are acceptable to God not because we have obeyed,
nor because we have promised to give up things, but because of the death of
Christ, and for no other reason.’ CHAMBERS
Jesus set the example of obedience to the will of
God. You might be thinking, “Oh, sure,
but Jesus is the Son of God.” You are
the son or daughter of God. He has given
you His Spirit … it is by the Spirit that we live this new life in Christ. Doing the will of the father should be more
than a philosophy but our passion and our preoccupation. Jesus said “If you have seen Me you have seen
the Father” in response to the request from His disciples. That should be our response to the
world. “If you want to see Jesus, then
look at my life … that is what Jesus looks like.” Can you say that? Why not? Do you think that is
impossible? Then you must also think
that there is error in the Bible. Imagine
running in a race that you are convinced that you cannot finish. What is the point. Or maybe you can finish it ... but not on your own!
Hebrews
12:1-3 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a
great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin
that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out
for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the
joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at
the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition
from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
