If when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through
the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by
His life. —Romans 5:10
“When I turn to God and by belief accept what God reveals,
the miraculous atonement by the Cross of Christ instantly places me into a
right relationship with God. And as a result of the supernatural miracle of
God’s grace I stand justified, not because I am sorry for my sin, or because I
have repented, but because of what Jesus has done. The Spirit of God brings
justification with a shattering, radiant light, and I know that I am saved,
even though I don’t know how it was accomplished. The salvation that comes from
God is not based on human logic, but on the sacrificial death of Jesus. We can
be born again solely because of the atonement of our Lord. Sinful men and women
can be changed into new creations, not through their repentance or their
belief, but through the wonderful work of God in Christ Jesus which preceded
all of our experience (see 2 Corinthians 5:17-19).” CHAMBERS
That is not to say that we are not saved by grace through
faith (Ephesians 2:8,9) because we
are. The point is that it is because of
Jesus that we can be saved. (Romans 10:9)
“Confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God (the Father) raised Jesus from
the dead” and because of what was done for you, supernaturally, you will be
saved eternally. Your salvation is made
possible by Jesus and secured by faith, not works. The health of your spiritual life is
dependent upon the source of that spiritual life – Jesus. You cannot distance yourself from Him and try
to be a good Christian on your own. It
doesn’t work that way (John 17: 20-23)
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me
through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in
me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that
you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may
be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to
complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them
even as you have loved me.” Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (James
4:8) Spend some time with Jesus
today. ELGIN
