What Is It About The Name of Jesus?

“In that day you will ask in My name…for the Father Himself loves you…” —John 16:26-27

“[…] that is, in My nature. Not “You will use My name as some magic word,” but— “You will be so intimate with Me that you will be one with Me.” “That day” is not a day in the next life, but a day meant for here and now. “…for the Father Himself loves you…”— the Father’s love is evidence that our union with Jesus is complete and absolute. Our Lord does not mean that our lives will be free from external difficulties and uncertainties, but that just as He knew the Father’s heart and mind, we too can be lifted by Him into heavenly places through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, so that He can reveal the teachings of God to us. “…whatever you ask the Father in My name…” (John 16:23). “That day” is a day of peace and an untroubled relationship between God and His saint. Just as Jesus stood unblemished and pure in the presence of His Father, we too by the mighty power and effectiveness of the baptism of the Holy Spirit can be lifted into that relationship— “…that they may be one just as We are one…” (John 17:22).” CHAMBERS

Do you remember, in response to a request, your parents saying to you or may you saying to your children “What is the magic word?”  And then you would say “Please”.  The name of Jesus is not a magic word.  That is not the word we say to God to get Him to do what we want.  It is the name above every other name. Philippians 2:9-11  “ Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  It is because of Jesus that we have access to the Father.  It is because of Jesus that we have eternal life.  1 John 5:11-12 “And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.”  When we invoke Jesus, we are stating by what authority we say what we say … there is a story in Acts 19 about some men who wanted to cast out demons and they were not followers of Jesus … the response from one of the demons was “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.”  The point is that simply invoking the name of Jesus is not the point.  Having the position in Christ because we have salvation in Him is the point.  We are making a declaration from our spiritual nature .. not our old nature.

And just because you say ‘Jesus’ does not mean that God will say ‘yes’.  If you are indeed one with Jesus … if you have the mind of Christ .. if you are walking in the Spirit and not the flesh, then your desire will be that the Father’s will be done … not yours … Is that why you said “Jesus”? “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus there is just something about that name.  Master, Savior, Jesus like the fragrance after the rain. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus let all heaven and earth proclaim.  Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, but there is something about that name.”
