Missing The Mark And Missing God's Best

My Utmost For His Highest

‘If we are quietly waiting before God after He has said to us, “Come aside by yourselves . . .” then that is meditation before Him to seek His will (Mark 6:31). Beware, however, of giving in to mere daydreaming once God has spoken. Allow Him to be the source of all your dreams, joys, and delights, and be careful to go and obey what He has said. If you are in love with someone, you don’t sit and daydream about that person all the time— you go and do something for him. That is what Jesus Christ expects us to do. Daydreaming after God has spoken is an indication that we do not trust Him.’ CHAMBERS

James 4:17 “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” Sounds pretty harsh doesn’t it?  If God tells us to do something and we don’t do it, we are sinning .. missing the mark … missing God.  We mostly treat God’s commands and suggestions.  And why is that? Because we don’t trust God with our lives. Oh, we trust Him for eternal life .. but that is for later .. for now, we will do our best to figure out what is best.  If that happens to be coincident with God’s will .. great!  The Bible gives specific direction to all Believers .. and then God will give each of us specific direction … we treat it all the same … obedience “IS” always a function of trust.  And trust is a function of love.  If we don’t obey God, we are missing the mark … and missing out on God’s best for us.
