If I Indeed Love God, I Must Love Him In Deed

My Utmost For His Highest

‘When it comes to taking the initiative against drudgery, we have to take the first step as though there were no God. There is no point in waiting for God to help us— He will not. But once we arise, immediately we find He is there. Whenever God gives us His inspiration, suddenly taking the initiative becomes a moral issue— a matter of obedience. Then we must act to be obedient and not continue to lie down doing nothing. If we will arise and shine, drudgery will be divinely transformed.’ CHAMBERS

It is simple really.  We act by faith and God shows His power.  The Bible is filled with examples of people trusting God and those who did not.  God will not act until we obey … Obedience begins in the heart.  We must be in agreement with God … He must be first … Jesus asked “Why do you say you love me, but don’t obey..?”  If we, indeed, love God with our who being then we must love Him “in deed” and not just in words.

1 Samuel 15:22 “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice[…]”

Psalm 51:16-17 “You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

As children of God, we must have a willingness to walk in obedience to God … Henry Blackaby said if we have an obedience problem .. really what we have is a love problem.
