What A Friend We Have In Jesus

My Utmost For His Highest

‘Many servants set out to serve God with great courage and with the right motives. But with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, they are soon defeated. They do not know what to do with their burden, and it produces weariness in their lives. Others will see this and say, “What a sad end to something that had such a great beginning!”’ CHAMBERS

Matthew 11:28-30  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

1 Peter 5:6-7  “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,  casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

John 15:5  "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

The key to successful living is not getting an education or a good job.  Although those are certainly good things.  The key to successful living is having an intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ.  We all know that there is ample opportunity to feel the weight of this life .. to let troubles and disappointments wear us down … to rob us of our joy and hope.  But drawing close to the Lord, being intentional about our relationship with Jesus is the secret to overcoming those things.

What A Friend We Have In Jesus. (Joseph Scriven)

"What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!  What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,  All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?  We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?  Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?  Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!  In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there."

Spend some time with the Lord today.
