"Then Amos answered and said, “I was no prophet, nor a prophet's son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs. But the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’ Now therefore hear the word of the Lord." - Amos 7:14-16
“The world has yet to see what God will do with a man fully consecrated to Him”
In the context of Experiencing God, God will speak to us, as His children. What He says will challenge our thinking and perhaps the path we are following. The path that we are comfortable with and may feel the path on which we are destined to remain. That brings us to a Crisis of Belief which requires a major adjustment in our lives and/or our actions. Then comes the test of our faith - will we step out in faith and obedience to what we know God has said. To calm your nerves, Paul wrote in Ephesians that God gave "some" not all to fulfill particular roles in the church.
"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." - Ephesians 4:11-12
He may not be telling you to quit work, sell all you have - leave your nets - and follow Him to the mission field. He is at work all around you and can and will use someone just like you that is consecrated to Him right where you are. Someone who is willing to choose God wherever it might lead.
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers [Christian], by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." - Romans 12:1-2
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
