“And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
I listened to a pastor share about his surrender
to God’s call. He didn’t know exactly what the call was at the time except that
it required him to stop trying to live his life on his own terms. The Bible is full of examples of that same
experience – Abraham – Moses – David – Joseph and Mary – the Disciples – Paul –
and you. You were with me for a second there – in agreement with the names I
was listing. Maybe until I got to your name. With each of those people – God intervened
in their lives – they were going one direction – holding to a certain set of
beliefs and then BAM! God shows up. If you are a Christian then it has happened
to you as well. You have had a common experience with them. A moment of
surrender of your natural life for a supernatural one.
At one minute you were like everyone else and then
in an instant – when you yielded your heart, your will, your life to God
everything changed. God said, “There is something I want you to do.” I have
written about the general and specific will of God in times past. As Christians we are all called out of our
culture.
“If you were of the world, the world would
love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the
world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A
servant is not greater than his master.’” – John 15:19-20
Are you willing to be different? To live
differently – to believe differently – to love differently? To embrace the truth that you are no longer
of this world and all that it embraces as right. God has something He wants you to do. He
wants you to be a witness for Him to a world that hates Him. God uses us to be
a spark for the flame of salvation in the lives of some. To be living
testimonies of the WAY and what it means to live for God. God has something in mind for you.
“But when the Pharisees heard that He had
silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. Then one of them, a lawyer,
asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, ‘Teacher, which is the great
commandment in the law?’ Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the
first and great commandment. And the
second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two
commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.’” – Matthew 22:35-40
It does not matter if you are a butcher, a baker,
or a candlestick maker – a teacher, a mechanic, a doctor, a lawyer or a stay at
home mom – God has something He wants us to do. Don’t ever think that what you
do does not have kingdom value – as a Christian you are first spiritual –
everything you do is in that context.
God has something He wants you to do – but you don’t have to do it on
your own. That was your old – natural – life where you were on your own. Not any more my friend. He has given you His
Spirit as your source of strength. Still wondering what He has for YOU to do?
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what
does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk
humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8
Think about it – Pray about it - Believe it –
Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

Glory Alone
