This is an update on the Fund Raising effort for the Deborah Smith House
I conducted a detailed assessment two days ago.
First, with respect to the funds needed .. we have met our
financial goal for Phase 1 – get a dumpster in place, remove the trees from the
yard and roof, replace the roof.
Phase 2 will be to ensure the house is safe – remove
sheetrock – insulation – flooring - remove cabinets in Kitchen - treat for mold
– fix sewer pipe in backyard
Phase 3 – plumbing – electrical repairs - broken
windows – exterior doors.
Phase 4 – put house back together
I won’t go into depth on this .. there is much to do … I
will need volunteers when we start to put the house back together … and will
put a call out well in advance …
I am also using some local volunteers – something that I
didn’t have in Mississippi
Because of the codes in Texas, I can’t use electricians.
Plumbers and HVAC from other states without having the permits pulled by local
people .. down to being registered in the municipality.
