If we have been united
together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the
likeness of His resurrection… —Romans 6:5
“The Spirit of Jesus entering
me rearranges my personal life before God. […] I can have the resurrection life
of Jesus here and now, and it will exhibit itself through holiness. The idea
all through the apostle Paul’s writings is that after the decision to be
identified with Jesus in His death has been made, the resurrection life of
Jesus penetrates every bit of my human nature. It takes the omnipotence of God—
His complete and effective divinity— to live the life of the Son of God in
human flesh. The Holy Spirit cannot be accepted as a guest in merely one room
of the house— He invades all of it. […] He takes charge of everything. My part
is to walk in the light and to obey all that He reveals to me. Once I have made
that important decision about sin, it is easy to “reckon” that I am actually
“dead indeed to sin,” because I find the life of Jesus in me all the time
(Romans 6:11).“ CHAMBERS
“I am crucified with Christ,
nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me. And the life that I now live in the flesh, I
live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
(Galatians 2:20) Someone at work asked
the question “Does the Bible say that a Christian cannot be cremated when they
die?” So I answered with a question, “Does the Bible say
that a Christian cannot be eaten by a shark or alligator or die in a house fire
or plane crash?” I told them that
thinking like that was an attempt to limit God.
If God can speak the universe into existence, why would we think that God
could not raise us up … (read 1 Corinthians 15:12-57 for insight into the
resurrected body)
Very often we try to
understand spiritual truth in terms of our physical existence. There are certainly parallels, but the
spiritual can only be understood by revelation of the Spirit. So, while we live this life on earth, we have
a physical body, subject to everything associated with a fallen world .. good
and bad .. At the same time, we have the Spirit of God in us, connecting us to
the heavenly. I don’t think that we will
forget about this life when we are in heaven.
The Bible is not clear on that … but seems to me it would have been a
lot easier if God had created us in heaven, and skipped this mess. But He didn’t. He created us in His image, giving us the ability
to choose. And when we choose Jesus, He gives us a
mission … to tell others and give the world a glimpse of His glory as we live
out our lives by faith. Can you see why personal
holiness is so important? If all anyone
every sees in us is the world … what good is that. If we sin and by sinning encourage others to
sin as well, we are doing exactly the opposite of what God commissioned us to
do. We are showing the world, nothing
more than what we were saved from .. and not what we were saved to. ELGIN
“Not My Will” Maranatha Music
“In this uncertain hour, I
come before Your throne. My spirit is
willing to obey, but my flesh is weak
Oh my Father, if there be any
way to remove this trial from me. Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.
I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me. Christ who delivers me
In my hour of need, it’s
Christ who strengthens me. Christ who delivers me, Christ who heals me
My soul is sorrowful, even
unto death. Oh my Father if it’s possible, let this cup pass from me
Nevertheless, not my will but
thine be done.”
