Where is Jesus?

My Utmost For His Highest

The only way to be obedient to “the heavenly vision” is to give our utmost for His highest— our best for His glory.  This can be accomplished only when we make a determination to continually remember God’s vision. But the acid test is obedience to the vision in the details of our everyday life— sixty seconds out of every minute, and sixty minutes out of every hour, not just during times of personal prayer or public meetings.’ CHAMBERS

Chambers is talking about a specific vision that God gives to Christians, but it caused me to think about the call to all of the Saints to holiness.  Not perfection .. but the pursuit of God.  The total commitment to following Jesus.  In the Book of Revelation 2:2-4 Jesus said to the church of Ephesus  "I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;  and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary.  Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

It is an easy thing to slip into religion without Jesus.  Going to church .. singing the songs … even speaking Christian-ese … but Jesus is not at the center of it … as a result … the life we are living  is dead ..because we have quenched the Spirit's fire… but we are satisfied …

To the Church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:15-18  Jesus said  "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.  So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.  Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked--   I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”

We can lose our love for God because of our love the world.  We say we love God .. but our heart reveals the truth.  We deny the truth that we cannot love both .. deceiving ourselves .. and missing God.  We think we are doing well but we are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. We must be on our guard … it is so easy to fall into this way of life … It doesn’t happen all at once .. but when we become aware of it .. like Jesus told both churches …  repent … give your heart back to God …  for His glory and for your good.
