My Utmost For His Highest
‘The things we try to avoid and fight against—
tribulation, suffering, and persecution— are the very things that produce abundant
joy in us. “We are more than conquerors through Him” “in all these things”; not
in spite of them, but in the midst of them. A saint doesn’t know the joy of the
Lord in spite of tribulation, but because of it. Paul said, “I am
exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation” (2 Corinthians
7:4). The undiminished radiance, which is the result of abundant
joy, is not built on anything passing, but on the love of God that nothing can
change. And the experiences of life, whether they are everyday events or
terrifying ones, are powerless to “separate us from the love of God which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).’
CHAMBERS
What do you think about that? Do you connect the struggles you are facing
with the fruit of the Spirit? When you
face trouble on your own .. troubles that are much bigger than your capacity to
resolve them … how do you feel? Helpless
… fearful … hopeless … alone? Our faith
gives us a different perspective on life. God is our shelter, protector, provider, help
in times of distress. I am thinking
about Elisha’s servant who saw an enemy army surrounding the house they were
sleeping in. But Elisha prayed that his
servants eyes would be opened to see the great host of angels that God had sent
to protect them. (1 Kings 6)
Something that I have learned is that no Christian is without difficulties in life. We see Christians and think that … you know the people I am talking about … you might think “I want to be like them!” But what you don’t see is what brought them to the place where their light shines so brightly. “It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him deeply.” A.W. Tozer wrote this in his book “The Pursuit of God”. (recommended reading by the way) So Christian … “count it all joy when you face trials” James 1, “trust in the Lord” Proverbs 3 and watch your light shine brighter than you could have imagined.
