‘There
are times when it seems as if God watches to see if we will give Him even small
gifts of surrender, just to show how genuine our love is for Him. To be surrendered to God is of more value than
our personal holiness. Concern over our personal holiness causes us to
focus our eyes on ourselves, and we become overly concerned about the way we
walk and talk and look, out of fear of offending God. “. . . but perfect love
casts out fear . . .” CHAMBERS
Personal holiness follows surrender .. it’s not
the other way around. Ephesians
2:8-9 says we are saved by grace through faith not effort. Our new life in Christ starts with surrender
and then the 2
Corinthians 5:17 thing happens .. old things pass away .. and all things
become new … So what does it mean to be “in Christ”
First, of course, we must believe in Him .. Romans
10:9 and then we must live a surrendered life Romans
12:1-2. Let’s look at those verses …
Verse 1 – surrender … Verse 2 - be holy.
Do you see the sequence. We are the branches and He is the Vine. Jesus
said to Peter .. love me then serve me … John
21:15-19
So stop trying to be
good and surrender to the One who is good.
