‘[…] The Spirit of God uses
the nature of the believer as a temple in which to offer His prayers of
intercession. “. . . your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit . . .” (1 Corinthians 6:19).
When Jesus Christ cleansed the temple, “. . . He would not allow anyone to
carry wares through the temple” (Mark 11:16). […] Have we come to
realize that our “body is the temple of the Holy Spirit”? If so, we must be
careful to keep it undefiled for Him. We have to remember that our conscious
life, even though only a small part of our total person, is to be regarded by
us as a “temple of the Holy Spirit.” He will be responsible for the unconscious
part which we don’t know, but we must pay careful attention to and guard the
conscious part for which we are responsible.’ CHAMBERS
Americans spend $40 billion dollars on diet plans
and books every year. It is an effort to
improve health .. but it is really more than that .. it is our obsession
to improve our appearance. We want to look good.
Jesus said … Matthew
23:24-26 ‘Blind guides, who strain
out a gnat and swallow a camel!
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and
dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of
the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.’
The Pharisees were concerned about status in the
community, how they looked to people. But they missed the point … they didn’t
get the fact that to be right on the outside, you must be right on the inside,
first. We spend enormous amounts of
money trying to look like we are not as old as we are … but a
disproportionately small amount of our resources .. time and money .. on
developing the inside.
Psalms
44:21 […] He [God] knows the secrets of the heart.
God does not look at the outside of man .. that is
how one man judges another … but He examines the heart .. the inside of the
cup. We cannot have right standing
before God because we look good. We can
only be right before God is our hearts are right.
So what are you working on? Trying to lose some weight, how about gaining
some ‘wait’? How about making your goal
that you will read the Word every day and pray.
Isaiah
40:28-31 ‘Have you
not known? Have you not heard? The
everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints
nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He
gives power to the weak, And to
those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And
the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew
their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and
not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.’
