MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST
‘Compared with the miracle of the forgiveness of sin, the experience of sanctification is small. Sanctification is simply the wonderful expression or evidence of the forgiveness of sins in a human life. But the thing that awakens the deepest fountain of gratitude in a human being is that God has forgiven his sin. Paul never got away from this. Once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vise, constrained by the love of God.’ CHAMBERS
When we consider the idea of sanctification, the
first part being set apart by God for God (2
Timothy 1:9) , or the second part – being changed from the inside out – (2 Corinthians 5:17), the only reason
either is possible is because of Jesus and His sacrifice. Our sins would not be forgiven if it had not
been for Jesus. We have plan A and plan
B. God only has one plan .. Jesus … John
14:6 … He is the way .. He is the truth .. He is the life .. no one can get to
the Father any other way … He is the atoning sacrifice …
So when Paul wrote “What shall we say then? Shall
we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not
know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into
His death?” in Romans 6, he was
pointing to Jesus and the amazing fact that God showed us grace and mercy. How can we continue to yield our bodies to
sin in light of that miracle .. that we are now God’s possession. Do you see things that way, or do you think
that God is your possession? Who is in
charge of your life? We must stop living
for ourselves as if what Jesus did was merely a favor to us .. “Hey, Appreciate
it Jesus, now let me get back to living for myself!” …. How
shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Good question … what is your answer?
