Oh Lord It's Hard to Be Humble (when you are perfect in so many ways)

My Utmost For His Highest

We can only be used by God after we allow Him to show us the deep, hidden areas of our own character. It is astounding how ignorant we are about ourselves! We don’t even recognize the envy, laziness, or pride within us when we see it. But Jesus will reveal to us everything we have held within ourselves before His grace began to work. How many of us have learned to look inwardly with courage? […] The greatest curse in our spiritual life is pride.’ CHAMBERS

People are interesting  … I have watched people make wrong choices, suffer the consequence and then make the same wrong choices again as if somehow, this time, the outcome will be different.  It is as if they want to prove that they can do it on their won.  That they don’t need anyone’s help .. they know what is best … If it is a family member, it breaks your heart to watch.

This is what Stephen said to the Jews right before they killed him …. Acts 7: 51-53  You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.”

Prideful people don’t want to hear that they are prideful and resisting God.  They are ‘stiff-necked’.  It is only when God takes them to a place where they will listen to Him and yield their prideful hearts to the Holy Spirit will the course of their life change.  You may know someone life that.  A family member, perhaps.   Or maybe it’s you.  Whomever, pray that God will work in them and that they will receive the truth and yield to God.  I don’t know who they are, but I am praying that with you.
