"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God....Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,19-20
When I write these devotional thoughts (this one makes 3203 days that I have shared with you), my hope is not to necessarily reveal some spiritual truth that has escaped you, although that may happen from time to time, but to encourage you to remember who you are in Christ today - at this moment. I must add that the first reader is always me. That somehow it will give you renewed perspective as to how, as Christians, we should live our lives - how we are to act toward others and to live in reverence to the God who has saved us by grace through faith.
My intent is to remind you that we are by no means perfect by deed or thought so long as we walk this earth but, at the same time, have been supernaturally perfected in Jesus. Not that we might then excuse our sin, but to understand that we were born into sin, our first birth. and will be tempted by sin until we breath our last breath. That you should not be discouraged by that thought but rather be encouraged knowing that He who has begun a good work in you, our second birth, will be faithful to complete. That on Christ the solid Rock you are standing - and all other ground is sinking sand. As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians......
"... let us live up to what we have already attained." - Philippians 3:16
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
