It's God And Not Our Culture Who Defines Sin

If we walk in the light as He is in the light…the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. —1 John 1:7

"I must “walk in the light as He is in the light…”— not in the light of my own conscience, but in God’s light. […] On the conscious level it produces a keen, sorrowful knowledge of what sin really is. The love of God working in me causes me to hate, with the Holy Spirit’s hatred for sin, anything that is not in keeping with God’s holiness. To “walk in the light” means that everything that is of the darkness actually drives me closer to the center of the light." - Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest

Does the fact that you continue to sin concern you?  Even a little bit?  Or are you content with being a marginal Christian. Are you accommodating sin in your life because, well frankly, you like it?  If you love your culture.  If you embrace what it offers or promotes as truth and right, even though the Word of God says it is a lie and wrong, then that is exactly where you are.  It is not a function of what you have but what has you.  Listen, freedom from sin is not freedom to sin.  It is really not OK.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." - 1 John 2:15-17

The problem is, so many “Christians” are in love with the world and the things of the world, that if you just look at other Christians and not Jesus, you can always find justification for what you do and don’t do very easily.  We are not to love our neighbor and then love for God will spring from it.  It is the other way around.  Love God and then you will compelled to love others because of our love for God and His love for us.  (1 John 4:19-21)

"By this all people will know that you are my [Jesus'] disciples, if you have love for one another.” - John 13:35

I want you to think about where your heart is and where your priorities are.  Loving God and not loving the world is not an option, it’s a command.

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
