There is a Maranatha praise song that goes …… “ More like you, Jesus more like you .. Fill my heart with Your desire to make me more like You. More like You, Jesus, more like You, Touch my lips with holy fire And make me more like You. Lord You are my mercy. Lord You are my grace and all my deepest sins have forever been erased”
Jesus is more than an example to follow … the danger is that the reality of who He is will fade in our hearts and He will become a symbol .. like the plastic Jesus on the dashboard of an automobile. I pray that your relationship with Jesus and your awareness of who Jesus is will remain fresh … in your mind and your heart. That every day you will be in awe of who Jesus is and what He has done for you through His work on the cross and resurrection.
I recall making a trip to Port au Prince, Haiti from Jacmel with a friend, Junior. I noticed that he had an English New Testament on the dashboard of the truck. I asked him if he could read English and he told me no. Perhaps it was there to remind him of his faith or perhaps it was there for luck. When we got back to Jacmel, I gave him a copy of Bib La (the Haitian Creole translation - I gave many copies - hundreds while in Haiti) That is the picture of Junior you see in this post. Another song comes to mind.
“Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus, Vast unmeasured, boundless, free! Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me! Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love. Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above! “ Samuel Trevor Francis
Let the reality of His love roll over you like a mighty wave in the ocean. Don't let the place of Jesus become a place on the dashboard of your life or the Bible a dusty book on a shelf.
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
