Seeing Is Not Believing

"The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you." - Genesis 12:1

Abram or, later, Abraham or the father of many, was told by God to abandon everything he knew to be right and good and go to another land.  The thing was, God didn't tell him where he was going, only that he was going to a land that God would show him.

There is an old saying that "seeing is believing" but with God, believing is seeing. Not with your eyes, but with your heart by faith.

"Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places" - Ephesians 1:15-20

God asks us to trust Him and not make fore knowledge, understanding or visible proof the condition obedience. It is faith. It is faith that saves us.

" For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9

Has your faith ever been tested? I know mine has.  This new life we all have in Christ is a life of faith. There is plenty of uncertainty for sure. We would like to know what lies ahead, but we don't.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones." - Proverbs 3:5-8

I am reminded of the admonition Joshua received in Joshua chapter 1 - "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."  That my friend, is like money in the bank as they say.

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
