My
Utmost For His Highest
Cast your burden on the Lord… —Psalm 55:22
{CHAMBERS} “We
must recognize the difference between burdens that are right for us to bear and
burdens that are wrong. We should never bear the burdens of sin or doubt, but
there are some burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift
off. […] If we set out to serve God and do His work but get out of touch with
Him, the sense of responsibility we feel will be overwhelming and defeating. […]
Many servants set out to serve God with great courage and with the right
motives. But with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, they are soon
defeated. They do not know what to do with their burden, and it produces
weariness in their lives.”
{ELGIN} What is it that is weighing you down,
today? Jesus said (Matthew 11:28-30) “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I
am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My
yoke is easy and My burden is light.” That
is not to say that the issue will go away.
But if you change how you are dealing with the issue and focus on Jesus,
then “the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and
grace.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 says “Therefore
humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due
time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” The essence of the encouragement we find in
the Word of God is to trust in the Lord. Listen, there are things that happen
in life that will grind you down to powder if you are not careful. They can affect your health, your sleep, cause
you to do things that are not healthy for you … but to what end. Stop trying on your own and look to the hills
(Psalm 121). The source of the problem may not go away,
but your ability to cope will change. If
you can get the right perspective which only can come from the Lord.
