“If we are saved and
sanctified, God guides us by our everyday choices. And if we are about to
choose what He does not want, He will give us a sense of doubt or restraint,
which we must heed. Whenever there is doubt, stop at once. Never try to reason
it out, saying, “I wonder why I shouldn’t do this?” God instructs us in what we
choose; that is, He actually guides our common sense. And when we yield to His
teachings and guidance, we no longer hinder His Spirit by continually asking,
“Now, Lord, what is Your will?”” CHAMBERS
Does God really care about my
wrong thinking or wrong doing? When we
have that mental debate within ourselves we already know the answer, but we are
really wanting to do is to minimize the significance of our sin. Justify why it’s OK to do or think what whatever
we please. (1 Peter 1:13-16) “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully
sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is
revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil
desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is
holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’” To know the right to do and not do it is sin
in itself. (James 4:17) Why did God
choose to include these words in His Word?
Because He knows us. He knows that
our flesh is weak. He knows all about
our struggles. Our struggles, with our
sin nature, are something that will be with us as long as we walk on this
planet. Let me ask you this. Do you believe that your faith matters? Are there times that you “feel” like it doesn’t
really? Does that question make you uncomfortable? We
are forever changed when we are sealed by the Holy Spirit because of our faith
in Christ. Called to a new life and empowered
to live that life. We are soldiers in a
spiritual battle that rages every day. Our
orders are His Word. Our mission is to
bring glory to God, to shine the light of Jesus Christ wherever we go, and
point the world to Jesus as the way, truth and life. Our challenge is to obey His orders and
accomplish our mission.
Does God really care? You bet He does. Does your faith really matter? You bet it does. Are your life choices, what you do, what you
say, what you think really important?
You bet they are. (2 Timothy 2:1-7) “be strong in the
grace that is in Christ Jesus. …. like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in
civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly,
anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by
competing according to the rules. … Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will
give you insight into all this.” CHARLEY
