‘Have you ever sought God with your whole heart,
or have you simply given Him a feeble cry after some emotionally painful
experience?’ CHAMBERS
We can’t live a “half-hearted” life and expect to
be successful spiritually. We are faced
with trials every day .. we struggle with our past and can’t seem to overcome
the burden that past has laid on us.
Matthew
8:24-26 “And
suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with
the waves. But He was asleep. Then His
disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are
perishing!" But He said to them,
"Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and
rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”
We, like the disciples, look at the circumstances
and our inability to “fix” what is wrong.
And then we panic … All the while, the Lord, who is with us, is sleeping
in the corner. That should be a
hint. God wants us to completely trust
Him. No matter what comes our way, He is
with us …
Matthew
14:28-31 “And Peter
answered Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on
the water." So He said,
"Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on
the water to go to Jesus. But when he
saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried
out, saying, "Lord, save me!" And
immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him,
"O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Sometimes, like Peter, we exercise faith but then
the reality of the circumstances overwhelm us .. because we take our eyes off
of Jesus. We forget He is with us and
think we are on our own and begin to sink.
Stop trying to live this life on your own … stop
trusting in yourself and put your trust in God … He is with you and is stretching
out his hand.
