‘The greatest thing for us to remember is that we go up to
Jerusalem to fulfill God’s purpose, not our own. In the natural life our
ambitions are our own, but in the Christian life we have no goals of our own.
We talk so much today about our decisions for Christ, our determination to be
Christians, and our decisions for this and that, but in the New Testament the
only aspect that is brought out is the compelling purpose of God. “You did not choose Me, but I chose you
. . .” (John 15:16).’ CHAMBERS
We talk a good deal about fulfilling God’s purpose
in our lives. As if we are deciding what
it is that God wants us to do. Actually,
God does that … Micah 6:8 asks the question .. “What does the Lord require of
you?” The answer .. ‘To do justly, to
love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’
Jesus said ‘Love God and love your neighbor.’ (Matt 22:37-39) asked what does that look
like … and He said ‘It looks like this.’ And went to the cross. When you boil it down .. our purpose is
simple … The Shorter Catechism .. The chief end of man is “To glorify God and
enjoy Him forever.”
It
is not about the destination but the journey so long as we trod this
earth. Ephesians 2:10
‘For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.’
God has always had a purpose and a plan. We are his foot soldiers … why does God use
us when He does not need us? We are
living testimonies of His grace and mercy … Just as Jesus walked the earth
after His resurrection … we who have been crucified with Christ (Galatians
2:20) ..walk the earth giving testimony of the new life we have in Christ.
How is your walk going? Let your light shine and fulfill God’s
purpose in you.
