Martie is recovering from a spinal fusion. She is doing well, thanks for wanting to know. 😊 They do a shift change twice a day. Last night the new RN – Ade (Addie) spoke with a strong accent. Recognizing the accent, I told Martie I thought that she might be from Nigeria. Without prompting Ade said that she was from Nigeria – probably because she is asked the question a lot. I told her that Martie and I are missionaries. I do that to set the spiritual tone. Her response was “Glory to God!” her faced brightened and the course of the conversation changed. She talked to us about her conversion while still in Nigeria – saved out of generational devotion to gods other than Jehovah. Not knowing about Jesus. Our spirits were joined in a holy fellowship. Words did not need to be spoken – we each recognized our spiritual relationship – even though there was a great divide between us in the natural – culturally, ethnically, vocationally, experientially - but there was unity in the spiritual. It is always the natural that brings separation – it is the supernatural that brings unity.
“I [Paul] therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:1-3
That means that the spiritual connection between Christians is dependent upon each Believer being submitted to the Spirit of God. Being sealed by the Spirit is not enough for a Spiritual connection to another Christian. For unity to happen – there must be an individual vital connection to the Spirit – walking by the Spirit and not merely sealed by Him. (That may be enough for salvation – but it is not enough to fulfill God’s purpose for you while you are on this earth.)
“I [Paul] say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” – Galatians 5:16-17
Your light will shine brighter when you are shining in unity with other Christians.
