What To Do When You Are Faced With The Impossible

Cast your burden on the Lord… —Psalm 55:22

{CHAMBERS} “We must recognize the difference between burdens that are right for us to bear and burdens that are wrong. We should never bear the burdens of sin or doubt, but there are some burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off. […] Many servants set out to serve God with great courage and with the right motives. But with no intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, they are soon defeated. They do not know what to do with their burden, and it produces weariness in their lives. Others will see this and say, “What a sad end to something that had such a great beginning!” […] Commit to God whatever burden He has placed on you. Don’t just cast it aside, but put it over onto Him and place yourself there with it. You will see that your burden is then lightened by the sense of companionship. But you should never try to separate yourself from your burden.”

{ELGIN}  (1 Peter 5:7) “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.”  Soon after Martie and I accepted Christ, she bought a coffee cup for me with that scripture reference on it.  I don’t know what has become of the cup, but that scripture was planted in my heart.  When we face trouble in our lives, the trouble does not necessarily vanish, but its weight on our hearts is lightened, because God is faithful.  Whether it’s Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:1-28), the three men staring into a fiery furnace (Daniel 3:1-30), or learning that you have an unexpected bill with no way to pay it, or some illness befalls you or someone close to you or perhaps God gives you a mission that is beyond your ability.  The answer is the same .. trust God .. put your faith in Him .. like the three young men said .. “our God will save us, but even if He doesn’t, we will not put our trust in anyone else.” (paraphrased by me)  Fear will enter in … the weight of the problem will be too much for you to bear if you trust in yourself …

Jesus said (Matthew 11:28-30) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” What is it that is weighing heavy on your heart today?  Do you feel the breath of the lion on your neck?  Do you feel the heat of the furnace on your face?  Whatever your burden, take it to the Lord by faith.  As a Christian .. it is all about faith … and where you put it.  Do it today! Do it now!
