‘God gives us discernment in the lives of others
to call us to intercession for them, never so that we may find fault with them.’
CHAMBERS
Do you know someone who is not doing, speaking,
living the way they should before God? They
are impossible. (Did a name come to your
mind?) So what should be your response to ‘those’ people? We often use the guise of discernment for
being judgmental. To be critical of what
someone is doing to us or to others or even to themselves. But they don’t need our judgment or criticism
.. they need our intercession before God .. our prayers. Luke 6:27-29 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your
enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn
to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt
from them.”
We have access to the creator God … because of Jesus,
our high priest. That is something the
fallen world does not have.
Hebrews
4:14-16 “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who
has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith
we profess. For we do not have a high
priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has
been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace
with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our
time of need.”
In the same way we should understand the weaknesses of
others .. the hopelessness of their lives without Christ. And intercede for them.
So Christian … let me encourage you to … “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
