When You Say You Love God Then Don't

"But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great." - Luke 6:46-49

Where do you draw the line between faithful Christians and religious fanatics. What's a fanatic? Well, that is my point. It all depends upon your decision about how you live your new life. What you have decided is "good enough" with respect to your devotion to God and your witness to the world. We all are familiar with the term, "personal relationship with Christ", but that does not mean that my level of spirituality and faith commitment is personal to me and really no one else's business.  Good enough might mean attending Sunday morning church and trying to be a nice person. It might also mean that having made the "cut" you are free to live your life by your rules.

To some, being a fanatic may mean someone who does more than attend Sunday morning or maybe takes a stand against abortion or some other issue that the culture embraces that is contrary to the Word of God. Or perhaps they openly share Jesus with people when the Spirit gives them opportunity. No matter where they are at the time.

Do you only think about your faith only when it is time to eat or on Sunday morning? Then you don't need to worry. You are not a fanatic. Our goal should not be to avoid fanaticism, but to be wholly devoted to God. The quality of your Christian life is dependent upon your willingness to surrender to the will of God. If you have a problem with obedience like Jesus referred to in Luke that means that you have a love problem. If you don't have a problem with obedience, then you are probably not a fanatic you are faithful. Which is a good thing to be.

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
