"Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided." - Genesis 22:13-14
When Abraham took Isaac to Mount Moriah to sacrifice him, Abraham had an attitude of total dedication and dependence on God. There was nothing in Abraham's heart that was withheld from God. When Abraham was about to plunge the knife into his son, God stayed his hand. Abraham had passed the test of faith. In Abraham's heart - his only son was already sacrificed. And Abraham's faith was reconned unto him as righteousness.
We must be careful that we don't approach God half- heartedly. Devoted partly to God and partly to ourselves. Then expect God to bless us for the portion of devotion we are willing to "toss" His way. The Word is clear!
"Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation."- Psalm 24:3-5
Abraham named that altar, "The Lord Will Provide" or Jehovah Jireh. And He will - but be careful lest you forget we have access to the throne of grace on His conditions and the sacrifice of His Son and not on ours.
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
