"For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by all her children." - Luke 8:33-35
The world, those who call what is good - bad and what is bad - good, does not reject Christians because of what they do or say. The world is not rejecting people at all. The world is rejecting God. We are merely the messengers. When I call a business because of a problem I am having with a service or something I purchased, I am always careful to tell the person I am talking to that I know the problem I am having is not their fault. They are merely the representative. They are not the source of the problem.
And so it is with the us and the world. We are not the source of the problem. Sin is the problem. Man's enmity toward God because of sin is the reason for the problem. His desire to be his own god. So, it does not matter if I live the life of John the Baptist or Jesus - as far as the world is concerned, because I claim to be a child of God - saved by faith in Jesus - I am wrong. And to be pitied.
That is not going to change. The best we can expect is that we are tolerated by the world, and our message will be minimized and categorized as "just another religion". Wide is the gate that leads to destruction. Man's reasoning is that there, one, is no God or, two, if there is, there must be more than one way to get there. Mankind is desperate to prove that there is more to creation than this planet. That there are other intelligent life forms in the universe. That would allow him to justify his dismissal of his responsibility to a Creator God.
Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.
