Jesus Did It First - Day 3

 Making Intercession To The Father

"In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek." - Hebrews 5:7-10

"he [Jesus] holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them." - Hebrews 7:24-25

After His ascension, Jesus is at the right hand of the Father. As our high priest, He makes intercession for us. In a similar way we should be making intercession for others.

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess." - Hebrews 4:14

In a similar way, the husband is to be the "spiritual priest" for the family. Making intercession for them.

"For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church. ... Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" - Ephesians 5:23,25

This speaks to spiritual responsibility. Making intercession for the family. I have often heard of women being faithful to prayer - but seldom about men being the same. Responsibility cannot be delegated. That is not to say the wives should not be praying for their families.

"With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints." - Ephesians 6:18

"... pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." - James 5:16

Jesus did it first. Now it's our turn.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." - 1 John 5:14

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
